Martinez School
Our chapter has taken on a project of teaching the Introduction of Flight to five, fourth grade classes at Martinez Elementary School.
The project began last April with Kathleen Snaper taking on the teaching duties.
Mardel Haskins took over this year. She began with the history of flight, then careers in aviation and last month the parts the airplane.
The lessons include the equipment and uniforms for the jobs the children roleplay during the lesson.
Model airplanes help to show the workings of the real aircraft.
Chapter members are encouraged to get involved in this rewarding venture of sharing flying with youngsters.
Discover Aviation
The Chapter participates in Discover Aviation
as a yearly event.
This event offers first flights to youngsters, as well as a ground display of different types of airplanes and an
airshow.
We will display our booth, handout brochures and promote flying to the public.
Overton Airport Day
Overton Airport Day
is held in October at Perkins Field in Overton.
Overton is located 45 min North of Las Vegas. This event opens the doorway of aviation to youngsters in a rual area.
The local Aviation Explorer Group provides the peoplepower required to hold this event.
